54. Heaven’s Wisdom

“But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.”  James 3:17 NIV

Talk about raising the bar!

I was the classic angry young man 30 years ago, eager to pick an ideological fight with anyone so I could set things right.

Over the years, I have gotten inner healing for the floating anger, gone through deliverance, learned to be life giving, gained some bits of compassion here and there, and learned a vast amount of self-restraint so I don’t shatter the peace simply by showing up.

I am enormously less overtly antagonistic than I was 30 years ago.

But I still love a good fight!  I am a warrior.  An insult to my King will whip my emotions into warrior mode in nano-seconds.  I see an enemy stronghold over a city and swiftly envision the strategy to exploit the weak spots.   I watch one of God’s people walking bent over from the enemy’s bondage and my mind leaps into analysis mode, seeking the tip of the tap root so I can set another one free.

Yet, wisdom from above is pure, then peace-loving.

I can walk in peace.  Sometimes.  For short seasons.  But peace-loving?  Me?  Not at the core!

Oh Father, the spirit is willing but the flesh is still weak.  Being peace-loving is beyond the reach of so many of your children, but not beyond Your reach.

So in this final blessing of peace on the place we call Balmoral, we beseech You to work in the hearts of those who live there.  Let them crave peace with You and peace with their fellow man.

It is You who works in us to give us the desire and the power to be Christlike.  The desire to desire peace is vaguely there some of the time for some of the people.  The power to be peace-loving is utterly beyond so many people.

We appeal to You, the source of all wisdom, and the God of peace to do a miracle in our hearts and cause this community to be infused with the wisdom that comes from above.

Amen, from another warrior! It’s hard to hold it until Wisdom can speak up!

    Well said Mary-Anne!
Hahaha…I laughed at your words Arthur! Your transparency is awesome! The treasure that comes out of you is incredible!
I am in a place of incredible joy and peace in blessing Balmoral. I am not sure if it is because of where I am at with the Prince of Peace or because of the buildup in Balmoral from 54 powerful blessings!
So glad to walk this journey with you all!

  3. When I know there can be healing, relief, restoration, I just want to leap to tell it! I have to back up into Him and listen for instructions for my words too soon could disrupt or harm and be the opposite of peace. And all that before I even knew about positive numbers! Now the fire remains burning continually for change around me and in me.

Thank you for the reminder of peace making, Arthur. James 3:17 always cuts through any facade I’m holding up. I equate peace-loving with loving the Godly order that comes into a person or a place. That’s the peace for me!

  4. Mary-Anne Simpson says:

I really had to smile at this as different giftings and tempraments are SO different and leaves me is such AWE of my King. That we have been all created so wonderfully different with a mirriad of variables on just one aspect of who we are.
I was strognly infulenced by a parent who was a servant, it takes me a very, very long time to get mad, and when I do even longer to do anything about it. I will go over it in my head a hundred time, what I will say, how I will say it and then most times never say it.
I struggle against settling for peace at any cost. My son once summed it but by saying that he and I perferred peace above being right. I have since learned that that is not a virtue and that there is more to peace than just the abscence of conflict.
True peace is a state that resonates loudly in your spirit even as the battle rages on around you drowning out the doubts and spitefulness pettiness of the flesh.
True peace is being able to speak out against wrong doing with loving compassion, true peace is going into battle against the enemy knowing that His banner over you is love and that you are surrounded by the hosts of heaven who are supporting you. True peace knows that death has no sting.
