What is Balmoral?

There is a castle in Scotland called Balmoral.  It has been a safe haven for Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth.  She leaves the challenges of London and goes there for a time apart, to rest and to regain perspective.

I am using that term as a metaphor for a place where I will be going sometime in the future.  I plan on a season of deep rest and restoration.  It is not in Scotland.  I am simply using the name “Balmoral” as a symbol so I don’t have to reveal where I will be.

For the indefinite future, I will be writing a series of prayers and blessings to prepare that land.  I ask you to join me in praying each new prayer for that land.  I invite you to pray it also for any land of yours that needs to be sanctified.

Dear Arthur, I did print out all of the Land Prayers and carry it with me between my two ends of territory, 6 hours apart. I am starting yet again at the beginning of the prayers and blessings for our Balmorals. I do believe there has been change in the local level, change I notice in the bird life first, but Peace seems to be spreading outward from the places I do the prayers/blessings. At the same time, the spiritual situation over our entire state(s) and Nation (U.S.) has intensely ramped up. I can only believe these Land Prayers were for this Season, needed and necessary, released by our Father for the accomplishment of His Purposes. Thank you. May we establish through these Prayers new Lines of Righteousness in the Land.

Arthur, many thanks for the information on your website. It has made a great difference. I am student when it comes to the issues on land and have recently purchased most of the teachings on land on the site. I have experienced some victory in cleansing the land where I stay. Our city however has been experiencing significant business collapses. I have attempted to launch some consulting to educate people and train businesses but the response in the city has not been great in general. A number of different people have tried the same without much success. I am wondering whether this could be a sign of a defiled city? If yes what is one suppose to do?

    • Arthur Burk says:

Francis, there are several possible reasons for frequent business failures. One is that there is a spirit of premature death over a city.

Have you listened to the sets “Redemptive Gifts of Cities” and “Seven Principles?” Those deal with how to identify the root issues that are behind the more surface dynamics of a city’s challenges.

      • Francis Rwakonda says:

Thanks. I have not listened the sets yet. I will buy them and go through them. There is so much good material that you have released and I am currently going through the Spiritual Warfare series and tools for cleansing land and time.

  3. The rebuilding of Jericho is sandwiched between the appearance of Ahab and the appearance of Elijah in scripture. I’m wondering if the cleansing of cursed land somehow opens doors for the prophetic spirit.

    1 Kings 16:33-17:1 (AMP)
And Ahab made an Asherah [idolatrous symbol of the goddess Asherah]. Ahab did more to provoke the Lord, the God of Israel, to anger than all the kings of Israel before him.

In his days, Hiel the Bethelite built Jericho. He laid its foundations at the cost of the life of Abiram his firstborn, and set up its gates with the loss of his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke through Joshua son of Nun.

Elijah the Tishbite, of the temporary residents of Gilead, said to Ahab, As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, before Whom I stand, there shall not be dew or rain these years but according to My word.

    Hiel-God lives
    Bethel-house of God
    Jericho-place of fragrance
    Abiram-father of height, i.e. proud
    Segub-elevated
    Joshua-Yahweh is salvation
Nun-fish, and has a derivative Hebrew root word that means increase or multiply or propagate.

Using the meaning of the proper names, the rebuilding of Jericho goes something like this: God lives, from the house of God, built a place of fragrance. He laid its foundations at the cost of the life of pride and set up its gates, with the loss of elevated, according to the word of the Lord which he spoke through Yahweh is salvation, son of multiplication.

Arthur thank you for being obedient in your calling. You have sacrificed (invested ) much for the Kingdom. Praying for land and using Spiritual Authority as a tool so underutilized in the Body of Christ. I teach in Memphis Tennesse at a Historically black private college located in a very poverty stricken area of the city. God sent me there under the guise of teaching Criminal Justice. But my real purpose is to serve notice to the darkness that light is present on the Campus. God seems to anoint every classroom that I teach in no matter what I am teaching. He blesses every committee I serve on. My prayer is to cleanse the land where idolatry within the administration has been prevalent My immediate supervisor is a Pastor and Godly woman I gave her Blessing Your Spirit . We come in agreement that righteouness will always prevail on our Campus. I am looking for my Balmoral now also God bless you continuously

  6. Heidi Colquhoun says:

When I lived in Scotland, my “Balmoral” was a stone bench on the top of a wee hill which overlooked Aberfoyle. My time to go there was usually after midnight when all in the village were sleeping. Now I’m in Wisconsin and I find the new Balmoral is a dark over grown path that leads down to the beach at Lake Michigan. I guess there is a Balmoral anywhere you are if you look for it. The important thing is to have one, and to use it.

  7. Liesel says:

I am continuing to pray for our small little town in Redwater, Alberta, Canada. It seems the Lord is coordinating and convening a strategic work in His people through the public school here, and I am keeping my eyes and ears open to hear more from Him.

  8. Ruthie Young says:

Thank you for these blessings and prayers. I am praying for Balmoral, but did not commit to ‘every day’ because I seem to be consistent in my inconsistency, and was concerned that I might forget for a few days and then deal with the guilt, (as mercies seem to do!)
Today, this prayer seemed to ‘hit’ my spirit in a different place. Will continue to seek Him to have more insight. I’m praying this also for our state, Mississippi, and my for our home and property.
I have read your copyright info. I would like to print this prayer in particular to give to our Council from across the state to begin to pray and bless Mississippi in a new way.
Thanks for who you are, what you give to many of us so freely, and your perspective on the Kingdom!
    Ruthie
